Valencia de Alcántara
This individually designed 2 bedroomed house, sits in about 6,000 sq.m. of land (about 1.5 acres) and has been converted from one half of a stone built ruin, and sits in a small cluster of houses. Through the entrance door is an open but covered area, which has a gas BBQ and seating area. Steps leads to a terraced back garden. The front door leads to the kitchen /dining room, which has an attractive wood burner. The sitting room has an open fireplace with windows overlooking the covered porch area.
A lovely, fully fitted bathroom is on the ground floor with a mezzanine area above the sitting room, with two open plan double bedrooms. Outside there are storerooms, one containing an original bread oven, once used to provide bread for the neighbours. One large storeroom could be renovated by raising the walls to provide an additional floor. The garden boasts a spring from which the water for the house is taken and in the winter there is another spring, which literally "springs" from the base of a large granite stone. Solar panels provide electricity , but there is mains electricity available nearby for connection if you prefer. The immediate garden area is easily manageable, with a large portion being left for wildlife.
All in all, a very sympathetically renovated house which has, for me a lovely homey feel!
